Rebate management for Rillet

A fast close doesn’t stop the leak — even a real-time ledger posts the rebate number someone else computed, and that’s where earned margin slips away. Rillet rebuilt the general ledger AI-native and real-time — automating journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and a near-zero-day close. Even a modern ledger, though, posts the rebate number someone else computed. Governed off-invoice calculation is a specialized layer upstream of the ledger — and that's where Aurgus sits beside Rillet.

How Rillet handles rebates today

A modern ledger still posts a number computed upstream

Rillet's real-time, AI-native GL is excellent at automating the close — journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, consolidations. The rebate accrual it posts still has to be computed and proven against contracts, qualifying sales, claims and settlements under ASC 606 and ASC 705-20. That off-invoice calculation layer sits upstream of any ledger, AI-native or not:

  • 01Retroactive volume tiers. When crossing a threshold reprices the whole period back to dollar one, a flat accrual line under-reserves until the catch-up lands in one quarter.
  • 02ASC 606 estimates and true-ups. Variable consideration has to be estimated, constrained, and re-based every period — not booked at the rate earned so far, and not trued up once at year-end.
  • 03Vendor rebates under ASC 705-20. A purchase rebate follows the goods — inventory while they sit, COGS as they sell — rather than a single up-front credit to COGS.
  • 04Claim-to-settlement reconciliation. Matching what you claimed to what actually settled, by program and period, is where short-pay quietly hides.
  • 05The ten-minute rebuild. Reconstructing a posted accrual to its source rows on demand is the audit test — and the first thing a bolt-on or spreadsheet loses.
What Aurgus adds, beside Rillet

A real-time ledger deserves a governed rebate number to post

Aurgus governs the rebate and incentive calculation — reading agreements, qualifying sales, claims, and settlements — and hands the ledger a governed, traceable accrual to post, with the estimate basis and approval attached. It complements a continuous close rather than competing with it: the number Rillet posts is one that can already be rebuilt to source. Because Aurgus reads rather than lives inside, it also spans a mixed-ERP group or a migration in progress.
